Story

Hi there!

Every New Year’s Eve I set myself a goal to achieve for the year ahead, last year was to lose weight, become healthy and find my feet in a few different activities - I went all guns blazing and lost three pant sizes which was a very happy achievement, I found myself more energetic, had a lot more confidence and overall began living a happier lifestyle. I was able to find energy to conquer the challenges that came forward whether that was in the work place or at the gym.

This year I thought, instead of achieving this goal just for myself, why not do it for someone else or a charity? I have a good friend that spends his time helping out with an amazing charity Little Heroes Foundation and thought this would be the perfect foundation to raise funds for. I began brainstorming and thought how about something like a 24 -HOUR exercise bike challenge. 24 HOURS is a long time to be alone, so why not get some friends to join in on the challenge as well.

I’ve grown up in Adelaide in a great, close family. I’ve had the opportunity to travel around the world, complete school, TAFE and got a trade. I’m 36 and have lived a fun and exciting life. Yes, covid is here with us and yes people have lost loved ones from it and people have been affected by it whether that be work or lifestyle, but there are a huge number of families that struggle out there with their children/kids being diagnosed with cancer daily. These kids may never see the world, may never ride a bike, may never go to school and there are plenty more MAY NEVERS. Every dollar gets these foundations closer to finding new ways to keep these kids alive and have a smile on their faces.

I would love for you to follow my journey, any contribution big or small will be greatly appreciated - the goal is to hit $24,000!

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.

    Little Heroes Foundation Incorporated

In 27 years of operation, Little Heroes Foundation has raised close to $40 million - the majority going towards purchasing lifesaving equipment at Adelaide’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital and providing daily support to families through the Little Heroes Care Program. Little Heroes is also pleased to announce a new partnership with the Childhood Dementia Initiative. There are almost 90 deaths each year from this illness,  yet little is known about the 70 different variants of this condition. The Foundation is currently running the campaign ‘Raise it for Renee’, supporting a South Australian mum with all three of her children experiencing the devastating impacts of terminal childhood dementia. Little Heroes has committed $50,000 to support Renee and families like hers. In conjunction with this campaign we are also funding a PhD student in Professor Kim Hemsley's team at Flinders University to assist them with finding potential treatments and cures for childhood dementia.

Our partnership with Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation continues to grow through our Big Talks for Little People campaign,  along with a new commitment towards an Eating Disorder Facility to be built here in South Australia.

As Little Heroes Foundation receives no government funding, the difference that we make to the lives of seriously ill children is not possible without the continued support of people just like you. Fundraising is such an important area for all charities, and thanks to Go Fundraise, it is easy to fundraise for Little Heroes Foundation.
